Sunday 27th saw us the U13s travel to Canterbury for our first game of the season, due to 3 previous games being called off, because our opponents being unable to field a team. We arrived early to watch the world cup semi final between Wales and South Africa, after the most amazing game the day before when England brushed aside the All Blacks.

We were joined by 2 lads from Whitstable who are struggling for numbers, hopefully the start of a two way relationship to allow all the boys play as many games as possible.

Canterbury took the lead in the early stages while we were still adjusting to the space of the pitch and added a second in quick succession. The boys showed great endeavour and spirit to lift themselves and score with a great amount of pressure on the try line forcing an offside decision leaving us with 5 metres to go from the restart it was powered over the line for a try which gave the boys the belief in themselves that they are good enough and can play well together. Canterbury applied more pressure to score once more. We still came back to apply equal amounts of pressure of our own and with some quick thinking at the base of the ruck, we crossed the try line with a great nip round the corner. Canterbury scored twice more before the break we managed to score once more with a great break from the cener of the pitch and over the white wash once more a half time score of 5-3. The boys took to the pitch for the second half with a new determination for the restart but we came up against a whole new team which showed the fresh legs made a such a difference enabling them to stretch or defence with some very good handling, to score 6 times without us being able to score in reply the boys still showed great character to the end of the game not giving up and 100% effort a final score of 11-3.

Well done boys lots of great things and some to work on we go again next week !!!!
