After several weeks of poor weather, we finally got back onto the rugby pitch for a long overdue match at home against a very strong physical Sittingbourne side. It was a return fixture from earlier in the season, in which Sittingbourne over turned us in a strong display of great rugby which left us 2nd best in all areas of the pitch.

We took to the field with hopes and confidence that we could put into the game all the hard work put in at training by all.

It was a perfect morning for it and presented with a great soft playing surface, which was dry at last. The game started at quite a frantic pace as always, we made some strong tackles and great work at the breakdown to win turn overs and apply pressure when we could. Unfortunately we fell behind in the first half with the score at 0-5 to Sittingbourne.

After the break the boys seemed to pull their socks up and decided that the fight back had to begin, we started with some great play scoring 2 tries with some of the best tackling of the season so far, to keep them out but from a quick break away after a scrum Sittingbourne managed to score again. Heads didn't drop and we went after them again scoring by using the width of the pitch with some strong ball carrying and support lines to open up the defence to cross the line JUST LIKE TRAINING SEE IT WORKS BOYS !!!!!! We seemed to get carried away with scoring again and forgot we have to defend and Sittingbourne scored straight from the restart, with another one of them runs round the outside GERRRR !!!!!!

The boys went straight back at it and after some antics at the scrum, Sittingbourne gave us a penalty in which we used to push forward and get to the try line and meet with strong defence, but everyone gave that last bit of effort in the last play of he match to join the maul and drive it over and drop to score at the final whistle 4-7.

Well done boys, I know the result didn't go our way but the way you all played with heart and spirit playing for each other and the badge that we wear with pride. The only way we know how at Ash!!!! both myself, Will and Kieran were so proud of each and everyone of you.

Lets hope that wasn't our last meeting of the season due to this awful situation we all find ourselves in at the moment. With the coronavirus please everyone stay safe and lets hope we can finish the season off with some more performances like that.

Well done boys be very proud of yourselves and each other.
