A great morning of Rugby played against Deal and Dover in a double header, played in the spirit of the game (T R E D S) teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship, all of which are held in high regard throughout the club.

Firstly, we played 2 great games against Deal in which we held our own in the first half with some great work at the breakdown and good support work in attacking, with good passing and running lines in which we scored 2 tries. However Deal were very strong and just edged us out of the first half. As the second half started Deal grew in strength and managed to over power us with some good tries. The team kept on pushing to the final whistle and fatigue quickly caught up with us all that defending takes its toll, something to work on in training but great improvements from our last outing against Deal. Unfortunately we were unable to keep up with Deal and the game ended in a defeat.

Then after a break and a refuel of energy, we had a chance to correct our mistakes from the first game as we played Dover, and continued to improve. As the game went on we managed to score 5 tries in the first half from some more good work in the breakdown and some strong tackling from individuals with good support lines being run. The second half saw Dover come on stronger with some strong ball carrying and effective work at the maul, which saw them score 2 tries of their own. The boys never gave up and showed great team spirit to the end working hard for each other as a team and being rewarded with 3 more tries of their own. Returning to the changing rooms with a smile on their faces and a spring in their step, the winning feeling makes a difference. After the games, we went into the club house for some food and to continue with some good friendships between all the players from all three teams.

Any players in year 7 that wish to give rugby a try please get in touch and come along everyone is welcome of all ability.
