Sunday morning saw Ash under 12s travel to Deal on a cool but dry morning, perfect for rugby. We travelled with 15 players available to play which is a great number, so things are on the up in the under 12s section .

I would first like to thank all you rugby mums for giving up yet another mothers day, but what other way would you like to spend mothering sunday but watching this great game we are all involved in and love??????

We had an early start as the clocks changed on saturday night (lost an hours sleep!!) and I think that didn't go down with us as we had a bit of a slow start. Deal managed to score first with a breakaway try down the right side of the pitch followed closely by a second in the same way. We then woke up and started to play some good rugby and managed some turn over ball to create chances to go forward, in which we managed to get close to the try line but were unable to convert into points, due to some resolute defence from Deal. Then it was Deal's turn to apply the pressure going forward and would of scored again had it not been for a great try saving tackle into touch by our full back. Unfortunately Deal managed to score from the restart with a strong ball carry over the white wash and a forth was added before the half finished.

After a constructive chat at half time the players highlighted their short comings and how to rectify them. We started the second half much better with some strong ball carrying, but were put under an huge amount of pressure on our own try line but were equal to it with some strong defence and managed to hold the ball up over the line to prevent a try. We finally started playing the ball well with passing an pushing forward and rewarded with a try down the left side of the pitch. Deal scored twice more but the boys never gave up as always we battle to the end and managed to score again with the final score 6-2 to Deal.

We had 4 new players on sunday that have joined us over the last 4 weeks and we would like to welcome them into the squad. They all played a part in the game which for some was their very first game of rugby they all played well and have fitted into the squad well with all the players, helping each other to settle in. The day ended with the usual food and social with Deal also some home made cakes for Harveys birthday, thanks Tracie! They all seamed to go down well judging by the faces of the boys and well deserved after the efforts put in on the pitch !!!!!

As always anybody fancies to try rugby you are more than welcome to come and have a try any age any ability or experience or if you just fancy getting involved, helping out there is always something you can do please get in touch.
