A Message to Our Ash Rugby Community
Like many across the local area, everyone at Ash Rugby Club is deeply concerned by the news of the recent cases of Meningitis in the Canterbury community.
Our thoughts are with the young people, families, schools and organisations affected at this time. We know how worrying news like this can be, and we stand alongside the wider community in wishing everyone involved a full and speedy recovery.
We would also like to reassure our members, players and parents that we are monitoring official guidance closely and will continue to follow advice from NHS and UK Health Security Agency. At present, there is no specific guidance affecting club training or fixtures, but we will of course keep everyone informed if that changes.
For awareness, early symptoms of meningitis can include:
• High temperature
• Headache
• Sensitivity to light
• Vomiting or feeling sick
• Stiff neck
• Unusual tiredness or confusion
In babies and younger children, symptoms may also include a rash that does not fade when pressed, difficulty waking, or floppy/unresponsive behaviour.
If anyone is concerned about symptoms, please seek medical advice immediately by contacting NHS on 111 or your GP. Meningitis can progress quickly, but early treatment is very effective.
As alays, the strength of our club is our community. Let’s continue to look out for one another, support local families, and share accurate information where needed.
Ash Rugby Club stands with the Canterbury community.
